each sound is a universe
when you walk into it
you also walk into someone’s realm

you might recognize certain scenes, such as
a fallen leaf, traces of night rain, or some roly-polies absorbed
running in the sunlight

when a shadow nods at you
you remember that
once a woman was walking from here to there, and
a man was sleeping in between
