I once asked him what then should be the music he liked to listen. He said, that floats like cloud, freely stretching, boundless, formless and even in expression.
I said: Would Buddhist music do since it is rather homogeneous and free?
He said, Buddhist music is lower in key.
It isn't that available music isn't good enough for him, it is just that most musical styles are more related to their specific forms. He wasn't pretending anything. He was thinking of something that matched his spiritual practice then. I think he knew what he was talking about.
