I did not aware that I made any contribution, but could be one of the components of my salary ? Should the critical to determine your SS benefit based on how much contribution you've made or just number of years’ service? If there is an opportunity that allow me pay certain amount and exchange for eligibility of the SS benefit, I definitely will do the same thing like you are doing now …also, I do not think I still have Chinese “hukou” :-(((
