Grow Up

I did not have many stuffed animals when I was a kid. But somehow, I acquired quiet a few after I got to this country. I put some of them at the back of my car when I moved several years ago. Since then, those bears, monkeis, lions and beavers had quietly accompanied me to whereever I go. So used to them that I didn't even notice them anymore. Sometimes people at work would go out for lunch together, and I would drive occassionly. People always made fun of me for owning those toddlers toys. “Grow up, Li!” Vidhya joked with me once.

This time when I was in Toronto, my nephew asked if he could have the little pilot bear wearing a leather jacket and a pair of cool goggles.

“Sure, of course, sweetie, you can have all of them ...” I was very generous.

He was happy but a little bit sheepish, murmured that mom would only let him have one.

No matter what he said, I left all my toys to him anyway.

Now, without my cute guardians sitting in my car, sometimes I had trouble identifing her. I went to the gargage to pick up my car last Thursday and all cars were unlocked there. So I just got into a burgundy Nissan and tried to start the car, only found it was not the right one. I got out laughing at myself.

Quickly finding my own baby, standing behind her and looking at the bleak back shelf, I thought maybe I had finally grown up … maybe Vidhy can tell me if it is true … LOL …
