psychiatrists are from medical schools.they are MDs specialized in psychiatry. their major tool is medication. their training in psychotherapy is not a major focus.

psychologists are from graduate schools of art and science. they are PhDs or PsyDs. their major tool is psychotherapy. their training in biological basis is not a major focus.
