Statistical analyses were performed using the SPSS Package for Windows version 13.0 (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA). The continuous variables and frequencies between groups were compared by Mann-Whitney U test and chi-square or Fisher's exact test as appropriate.

Survival time was calculated using the Kaplan–Meier method. The survival differences were compared with log-rank tests. Independent prognostic factors were identified using Cox stepwise regression analysis.

All P-values were two-tailed, and confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated at the 95% level.

A P-value of <0.05 was considered statistically significant.
