lies our puppy
He barks and snores, but doesn't talk
Yet, he understands you
He understands me
So, do I understand you

Between you and me
stands a screen
playing a silent movie
I don't understand
Neither do I, you say
So, do you understand me

Me thirty years ago
singing a thirty-year-old song
singing the errors that I know now
And the river that floats errors
winding and long
My song
your laughter
still flowing in the yellowed photo
The mirror behind us and the flash of the camera
cast the light that separates you from me
