Gernreich去世多年，还有不少人乐意在泳装上动些歪点子。2006年5月，Sacha Baron Cohen穿着一件兜住关键部位的弹弓比基尼（sling bikini），出现在法国戛纳的海滩上。后来，那个造型出现在《波拉特》（Borat）的电影版里。有人给那件荧光绿色的尼龙吊带比基尼起了个名字，mankini，男人穿的比基尼。
