When my doctor suggested me to take birth control pills, I asked her about the side effect. She said the blood clot is a big one, but the risk of delivering a baby that causes blood clot is 4 times higher than taking the birth control pills. They both are rare. But the benefit is that it will reduce the number of menstrual cycles. As we know that the number of eggs is fixed. It means that taking the birth control pills can delay the time of menopause. That's good for women.

I haven't taken any birth control pills yet because I plan to have the second baby. But I don't think the one accident could be a sufficient reason for not taking birth control pills.

Most medication has some kind of risks and none of them is effective for all people. NNT (number need to be treated) is one of the indices to evaluate it.

I hope there is a test available before woman taking the birth control pills daily and make sure nothing bad would happen.
