did i forget to pay somebody? if that is the case, I will just learn the lesson and remember to pay them in the future.

When somebody criticizes you, it is always a good idea to think first if you really did anything wrong. If so, learn the lesson and move on. If not, then defend yourself. But don't blow it out of proportion.
