In my opinion, a college like Stanford with extremely high percentage of CA and Asican residents will limit it's progrss in the long run.  The reason Yale can provide need-based financial aid for international students is because Yale can afford and is willing to do so.  This separates Yale and Stanford.  Also, Northeast is America's culture center.
