The Trump administration is reaching out to more universities about its funding-advantage proposal after several early invitees rejected it.
White House officials have invited Washington University in St. Louis, the University of Kansas and Arizona State University to a Friday meeting to discuss the proposal along with prior invitees the University of Texas, University of Arizona, Dartmouth College, Vanderbilt University and University of Virginia, according to people familiar with the matter.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Pennsylvania, University of Southern California and Brown University have rejected the proposal, citing concern about maintaining their independence.
