No. In first case, it is Ji's choice of leaving and went back to his wife and kids. In the second case, the entire family was rely on Tom. If Jane chose to be together with him, she will be blamed. Actually, when he became the most famous Judge in their country, people who knew about their stories might have thought "it is better that they have not been together." In many other cases that were not listed here, women usually had no other choices, believe me or not.
