In the above stories, what the unmarried ladies got from their love devotions is that they became love creditors, which gave them psychological priorities to blame their lovers. They also had the freedom of being single and enjoyed the beauty of their loves by standing a distance from their lovers. The one thing we need to understand here is that the payment and reward are not necessarily what we want them to be, and the pursuit of happiness is just a process of getting things matched.
