延迟 delay

三十多年前刚刚来到美国的时候，我们还不会开车。比我们年长的好朋友老王夫妇常常带我们去买菜和郊游。那个时候GPS还没有问世，我们每次出门都先查地图，把要去的地方标好，一起出门旅游的时候，常常是老王开车，老公帮忙看路。

“下一个出口我们就下去了” 老王说：

“我怎么又过了出口？”

当时的我们的确没有理解为什么他自己说着该出口了，却没有出呢？

一晃十几年过去了，我们自己也早就开车了，同样的错误他自己也开始犯的时候，不知道他明白是为什么不？反正，我现在终于明白了：“延迟”。当我看到路上有小松鼠跳动的时候，心想老公可别压死它，老公却在两秒之后突然急刹车，头一次我以为是他没注意，发现的晚了，以后每次遇到障碍物，他都以同样的反应急刹车的时候，我明白了这种延迟的状态与年龄有着密切的关系。这让我暗自提醒自己，开车需要高度集中，车与车之间的距离一定要留够。因为，我们的反应随着年龄越来越大而越来越迟缓。一个能承认自己的年龄的人，会承认迟缓的问题而小心驾驶。不是我们没看到出口和前方的障碍物，而是，眼睛看到的时候，反应给大脑，大脑发出信号给手脚的时间已经不再是一瞬间了，而是一个过程了，这个过程随着我们的年龄越来越长的时候，我们一定要掌控自己的适应度，不能不服老了。我已经人到中年，要过好自己的后半生。让老人的生活健康快乐的老去。安全第一。

After more than ten years, we have already drove ourselves. The same mistakes accrued , when he started to commit himself, I am not sure if he understood why or not? but, I finally understand: "Delay." When I saw a little squirrel beating on the road, I thought in my mind, my husband better not crush it and kill it. My husband suddenly braked after two seconds. For the first time, I thought he didn’t pay attention this time. But, when same thing happened every time like that. Obstacles comes to his same reaction, I realized that the state of this delay is related to our age. This makes me remind myself that driving needs to be highly concentrated, and the distance between the car and the car must be enough distance. Because our response is getting slower as we get older. A person who can admit his age will admit to the slow problem and drive carefully. It’s not that we don’t see the obstacles in front of the exit and the front. Instead, when the eyes see it, the reaction to the brain, the time when the brain sends a signal to the hands and feet is no longer a moment, but a process. When we are getting older, we must control our own fitness. I have already reached middle of age and we are not getting any younger. How to live out senior life be healthy and happy? Safety is 1^st issue.
