读《Reapers》和《观刈麦》有感

本地诗社布置的任务，要我学习百年前的英文诗《Reapers》。把诗找来，反复研读，可解其意，不知其味。搜索到白居易的《观刈麦》，一千二百年前的情景居然和我所亲历的五十年前的中国农村十分相似。也学古人凑上几句。
借词典品古诗忙里偷闲，
想起了年少时劳作田间。
芒沾衣草牵带刀环膝下，
风燎脸日焦背汗滴胸前。
麦浪卷如潮水呼啸而退，
人头动似战马奋勇争先。
听飞鸟离覆巢叫声凄惨，
看跑兔出幽洞遁影可怜。
抬望眼小楼外风光别样，
两鬓白家乡远身在天边。
观刈麦
（白居易）

田家少闲月，五月人倍忙。
夜来南风起，小麦覆陇黄。
妇姑荷箪食，童稚携壶浆，
相随饷田去，丁壮在南冈。
足蒸暑土气，背灼炎天光，
力尽不知热，但惜夏日长。
复有贫妇人，抱子在其旁，
右手秉遗穗，左臂悬敝筐。
听其相顾言，闻者为悲伤。
家田输税尽，拾此充饥肠。
今我何功德，曾不事农桑。
吏禄三百石，岁晏有余粮。
念此私自愧，尽日不能忘。
Reapers

Black reapers with the sound of steel on stones
Are sharpening scythes. I see them place the hones
In their hip-pockets as a thing that’s done,
And start their silent swinging, one by one.
Black horses drive a mower through the weeds,
And there, a field rat, startled, squealing bleeds.
His belly close to ground. I see the blade,
Blood-stained, continue cutting weeds and shade.
