Grand juries procedure, which is a pretrial procedure in criminal trials, is the district attorney's show because ALL evidence are allowed to buttress the DA's charge. The defendant's attorney is not allowed to be present, nor would the defense present any rebutal evidence.
NO one can challeng the decision of the Grand Juries, either drop the charge or indict the accused. Do as the Grand Juries say.
Because the defendant, if charged, will have his chances to defend himself on the court when the trial begins.
Unfortunately for Office Liang, he eventually hired a shitty attorney; Liang himself lied to the jury (which is a big No-No to Americans); Liang showed no remorse to what he did in publice.
Even worse, Office Liang alienated from the Police Union, one of the powerful organizations which may help Liang in public.
The take-home lesson: Never lie in public. People know!
