 做为爱宠物的人，自觉控制狗口，关心动物福祉是一种社会责任。目前animal shelter都狗满为患，这些狗狗如果一段时间没人领养，就会被人道处理掉。每年像这样处理掉的狗成千上万，请不要因为孩子想看生小狗就生出一堆小狗来，然后将他们送掉或卖掉了事。

根据动物性为学家Patricia McConnell认为，"Resposible breeders not only decrease the chance that a dog needs to be re-homed, they keep dogs out of shelters in the first place by following them throughout their lives and being willing to provide a home if one becomes necessary. "
