It is only a dream for the peaceful unification.  No king in the world would like to give up his power no matter how small it is.  Sovling Taiwan problems with decisive military strike will be good for the internal problems in Tibet, Xinjiang, and Mongolia as well as the external problems.  Just think reversely about the former USSR problems.  Should the country has still been under one umbralla, the situation for all the states would be much better.  But those kings of the small states wanted to be their own.
