美国为何丢失朝鲜战争阵亡将士名单

有人说，美国对待战争中的伤亡人员是“一个萝卜一个坑”，都是有名有姓有记载的，名字都可在纪念碑上。真是这样吗？

朝鲜战争结束后，美国宣布有54246人战死，8000多人失踪。但到近年，这个战死人数缩小到36000余人。对此，众说纷纭。“美国战争纪念委员会”网站给出了一个官方的解释如下（http://www.abmc.gov/search/koreanwar.php）：

“Accessible electronically at the memorial is a Honor Roll database where all 54,246 should be listed. Unfortunately, a fire at the National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis, Missouri destroyed many of the records of service personnel and a complete listing is not available. To date, the database includes the names of nearly 39,000 service men and women who died during that period..."

原来一场火灾烧毁了很多朝鲜战争阵亡士兵的资料。
