As the makeup of the present Politburo, it would be impossible to mention and place too much emphasis on Mao Zedong Thought even if Xi wanted it. But Xi did mention Mao Zedong 4 times in the speech. In my opinion, the event was low keyed and the speech is very conciliatory towards the US.
