Kyiv — President Zelensky announced that in the past week alone, the Russian Federation launched over 3,100 high-explosive drones, 92 other missiles of various types (both ballistic and cruise), and about 1,360 guided glide bombs against Ukraine. A walk through the streets of the Ukrainian capital reveals that most of these attacks targeted civilian infrastructure, indicating that Putin’s goal was to spread terror.

As you can see from the videos we recorded for the YouTube channel and website of the Italian newspaper “La Ragione”, walking through the Solomianskyi district of Kyiv, it’s hard to find a single section of its building facades where the windows haven’t been replaced with plywood, where the plaster isn’t blackened or chipped, and where the shop windows aren’t covered with additional wooden boards, temporary tarps, or sandbags«We are open, we are working» – these few words are posted at their entrance, inviting people in because «the outside is scratched, but we are invincible, and inside it is beautiful.» An entire building in that district was struck head-on by a Russian missile, completely destroying it down to its foundations. Dolls and toys, carefully arranged on the front patio next to a children’s playground that was also destroyed, serve as a reminder that several children lost their lives in that massacre.

Openly exploiting the world’s focus on the Middle Eastthe Russian Federation continued strikes on Ukraine’s civilian areas throughout the past weekend, conducting attacks of equal ferocity. A 23-year-old woman bled to death after being torn to pieces by an FPV drone that chased her into a shop in Nikopol’. Nearby, other identical drones butchered a 62-year-old man by entering through the windows of his home. In Chernihiv, Russian drone operators carried out a devastating double tap to maximize casualties from an attack targeting rescue workers who responded to the latest strike on a civilian train locomotive. A swarm of incendiary UAVs launched from Russian positions in the Black Sea ignited everything in an area of over 5,000 square meters in the Odesa oblast’, destroying fabric and clothing warehouses, shops, and the civilians inside. Dropping a bomb on the Church of Job Pochaiv of the UOC in Kostiantynivka, Moscow’s air force instantly killed two men, aged 49 and 56, wounded several other civilians, and damaged nine homes in the Diocese of Horlivka. When Ukrainian police arrived at the scene of the tragedy, they found a two-year-old child alone after seeing his grandfather and father — seriously injured — trailing in panic toward the hospital in Druzhkivka. In Kherson, Russian military forces used a drone to attack an ambulance speeding through the heart of the Dnipro district, causing two more deaths and five injuries in a raid targeting residential neighborhoods. In that bombing, the Russians also targeted shops, gas stations, warehouses, cars, and thirteen apartment buildings. All of these are civilian targets, just like the premises of Stepan Chubenko General Secondary School №12, which two Russian Geran-2 drones struck on Saturday night in Kramatorsk.

The scope and severity of this terror, which Ukraine has been enduring for 1,328 days and, on a smaller scale, for another eight years, is embarrassing. It’s equally embarrassing to walk through the wooden storefronts and steadfast hearts of Kyiv and learn that the White House leader will confront the Russian dictator over the sale of Tomahawks to NATO and that the Federal Association of German Airlines (BDF) is urging politicians to act, requesting permission to neutralize those (Russian) drones that fly daily over its airports and which the federal police refuse to shoot down despite having full authority to do so.
