help for a passed away friend

Hi All,

Sorry that I can't type in English.

Here is the situation:

One of my friend passed away unexpectedly. He is single and has no relatives in US. His parents is currently in US, but can't do much without official death certificate. Since the parents have to leave the country pretty soon, a few of us would like to help them out after that, mainly to sort out my friend's financial and medical records.

I would really appreciate your inputs as what kind of documents we may need in order to be able to do this.
