It's seem that IRS gets more aggressive this year. I had paid more than 4000 each time when I filed my tax returns for a few years, but i had never got penalty for any tax year before 2008. I owed IRS more than $5000 when I filed my 2008 tax returns.I paid the penalty of $120 for 2008. The penalty is for interest. it's amount IRS would get if you pay your quarterly tax enough. The penalty is not big money. Just pay it.

I changed my W4 from "1) Single" to "3)Married, but withhold at higher Single rate" so that I wanted to withhold more money from my paycheck. If you want more money, you can use the worksheet to figure out how much additional amount to withhold.
