98 Nissan, good condition (Value $ 3000-4000)
Broad collision $500 deduction with AAA insurance, Fee $600/semi annual
Fee could be $300/semi annual if mandatory coverage only
Got an accident in the winter, hit other car from behind because of icy road. Drivable after the accident. Body shop said it would be totaled if I make a claim. I did not make the claim in order to keep a good driving record to keep a good insurance rate. I paid $900 to have the car repaired.
The dilemma:
Should I
A. Spend $600/semi annual to keep the old car under broad collision and not make the winter accident?
B. Should I make a claim to get the car totaled and get a smaller than totaled value check from insurance company in order to keep in car?
C. Should I drop the collision coverage without making any claim on the car in order to keep a good drive record?
