Clean or not clean is very subjective.

1. Did the landlord give you a chance to do move out inspection with you?
2. Did you do move out inspection with the landlord or manager?
3. Ask the landlord send you the copy of receipts of repairing and labor to justify the amount he spent
4. You do need hire a lawyer for $850, you can go to small claim court if you think you have a case. Good luck.
