if you and your hu*****and filing status is "married and joint filing", your NC income must included in the tax return.

If you and your hu*****and file tax separatedly,your NC income must be included in your own tax return.

In either case, you have to include your NC income in the tax return.

you do not need pay NC tax does not mean you do not need to file tax return.
