How sad. I always thought if there is one thing that Chinese understand, it is "don't make things worse".
It seems to me that lesson has to be taught again, and
again.

Your LG as the assaulted party, can contact DA and requests
DA not to prosecute. A good DA should not bring charge
for your first offense. But not all DA are good.
