Massachusetts is an "equitable distribution" state, generally meaning that all marital property acquired during the marriage is subject to division.
Statutory factors include:
(1) length of marriage;
(2) conduct of parties during the marriage;
(3) age, health, station, occupation, amount and sources of income, vocational skills, employability, estate, liabilities and need of each;
(4) opportunity for future acquisition of capital assets and income;
(5) present and future needs of dependent children; (6) contribution of each to acquisition, preservation or appreciation of the property.

最後有關您最後一個問題,個人的建議是您應該認真考慮"不要"與您的未婚夫有任何金錢上的往來直到雙方結婚之後,老貓了姐這個建議或許有一些古板,但是這可能是最佳的處理方式,如果有必要您的未婚夫堅持您一定需要負擔這些款項,那麼個人會建議您考慮這筆錢是您的"房租",因此如果您們的婚事告吹,這筆錢就當成是房租,不要太計較.
