marital status update during postdoc h1b application

Hello,

I am from Canada and totally blind of American immigration law.

Currently I got a postdoc offer from U of Washington (UW), Seattle. UW has sent out the application for H1-b visa in middle this Oct. for me. By experience, maybe by the end of next January I will get visa.

If I want to get married on this Dec., what is the impact of my h1-b visa application? Do I need to send some documents to update the marital status?
If so, how long will the visa be delayed? In the future, can my wife come to US by h-4 visa?
