请问有人申请过disability 或者对此有经验吗

本人要做开心手术，估计2，3个月不能工作了。朋友叫我去申请disability，可是医生说会在手术後才给我证明。请问各位，我是可以现在去申请还是要等手术後，如果是手术後，我都不能行动，怎麽去申请呢？ 谢谢大家了。
