Subpoena question to 老貓 and others

老貓 & others,

I got a subpoena order asking me to give testimony of one of my friends divorce case on their trial date. The order letter was delivered to me 4pm Sept.26, 2008. The testimony date is Oct.1, 2008.
My questions are:
1) Do I have right to resist? (e.g., no show to testimony)
2) What is the reasonable response time? within 10 days? (I think that being given a notice for only 2 work days before the testimony is too short.)
