"Credit for child and dependent care expenses?" please help

I was divorced 15 months ago. My son lives with me. I sent my son to China for summer last year based on the divorce agreement with his father. I paid for the trip, my son’s camp and classes in China. But no matter what, I would spend some money here anyway if my son stayed with me in USA, since I could hardly take days off.

My question: Can I claim “Credit for child and dependent care expenses” at all? Isn't this like “My son is under 13, I had to pay somebody to take care of him since I could not myself”?

By the way, 2006 tax return allowed me to get $1200 credit for sending my son to summer camp in USA.
