Can I get this money back?

8 years back I worked in a company as a consultant from Canada. Because of then downturn of the economy which affects the company’s finance situation, the company did not pay all the work hours served. They owned me about $7000. Now I tried to seek the compensation. Any one knows the chance to be refunded and law issued involved? Can I ask them to pay the interest? Thank you in advance for advice.
