If both the hu*****and and wife make roughly the same, then it is not worth it. If IRS can prove this type of tax evation, then there is a place called jail to go.

If one has much higher income than the other, then divorce can save a lot because alimoney is deductible from the payer (receipient has lower tax bracket). A friend did that but he has to buy two properties.

It is against the tax law, though. Me too hate the AMT and hate to fork out nearly half of earnings...
