multiple defendents

In general, co-tenants are co-owners of the property. Co-tenants may share profits and costs (if the costs bring about profits or increased property value).

In a multiple-defendants case, if one defendant wants to settle, he or she may settle with the plaintiff and get a written release agreement which releases the defendant from all liabilities or damages relating to the lawsuit.
