我好想离婚啊!

我来美国一年多了,和一个有绿卡的人结了婚,但是一年多来的婚姻生活让我非常痛苦.我们经常吵架,还动手了好多次.每次吵架我都提出离婚,可是他死活不肯离.我想过报警,但是老是狠不下心来,我真不知道该怎么办好?最好能有什么办法能单方面离婚的?我问过律师,但是他们收费很贵.各位XDJM能不能给我出点主意?我将感激不尽.只要能离婚,有没有身份我都不在意,只想让自己早日解脱!
