I would not even worry a single thing since you guys have already signed the contract. Buying a car "as is" is defined as buyer is willing to accept any condition of the car with lower price and buyer will be responsible for whatever happened for the car. You dont' need do anything, except for finding out how "as is" is defined legally in your home state. Tell all these to the Indian buyer and he shoud understand he got nothing in his hand to sue you. As is pretty much a done deal, and even you found you bought garbage, you just have to take it.
Disregard his attitude stop wasting time arguing with him, that is his problem--not yours.
