For a formal legal procedure, you can go to county court and make the name change. The procedure may vary a bit, but normally you make the application with documents showing your existing name and the name intend to use. Then you will be told to make a public notice in a designated newspaper for a public annoucement. After certain days, the court will mail you the legal certification. This process takes about 3 weeks, and you probabily spend a morning in applications.

Once the name is legally changed, you will be known for the new identity.
