回复:open account in China

There may be legal implications here. If the amount is greater than 11K, you may have gift tax implication. Because if you transfer the money to someone else, it is considered a gift, and there is a limit on how much you can give cash to someone per year as a gift. These are IRS rules. Then when his brother transfer the money to your account, it is again considered a gift from his brother to you two, and you may need to pay gift tax as recipients. US GC holders and citizens are taxed globally.

It's easier to just set up the account in China first and then do a wire transfer or write a check. How are you going to set up the account? If you are going over there in person, just bring a cashier's check or personal check, which ever works for the bank over there.

Hope this helps.
