Zxcvbnmmlp and 單身老貓, What to do about high attorney fee?
My hu*****and had to hire an attorney for child support case with his EX (a small case $1000 child support fee). When first asked the attorney, he said the $5000 retainer fees should be enough. But now got a bill $ 9500 even without a hearing. If continue to hire him will cost more money, another $5000? If quit now will lose $9500 which has to pay and lose the case too. Only one thing we can complain is that most of the things is done by the other attorney in his company, but charging the same rate. Is there any way to get the discount to limit the total fees under $10000 and ask the attorney to finish the case? How to negotiate with the attorney? Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks a lot!
