请大家快帮忙啊, 被房东被宰了!

上个星期刚从旧的apartment搬到现在的apartment. 今天收到旧的apartment的bill,说
是要charge 我们1200刀, 原因是要replace carpet. 我们对地毯唯一的损害是在主卧
室,有巴掌大的一快地方,由于小孩弄脏了, 我用bleach去洗了一下, 不小心用太多了,
那快发了黄. 我们的地毯是brown的.
请大家我该怎么半啊, 不会由于这一小块就换掉整个apartment的地毯吧. 其他地方又
没有问题.
房东真是太狠了.
我住san diego,请问又没有什么机构会管这些人啊, 怎么样才可以保护租房者的利益呢
.
真是狮子大开口啊. 如果我去argue的话, 大家说怎么做才会最有效呢.
