置顶请教老猫：原告在外地可以不去出庭吗？不去会输掉吗

My car was hitted by a guy, and the guy drove another guy's car. Both of driver and owner do not have car insurance. Now, I claimed both to the court. My question is I am moving to another state where is 2000miles away from my current city, I do not know whether I do not present on the trial will effect the judge? May I apply for absence? Could you analyze the result for me? (the guy did not stop when it is red light for him, I have someone behind me to certify this). Thanks!
