accident advices pls for

2 years ago, i drove a company car made a left turn and had an accident. the other party hit the car on the driver's side front bump. she hit the car inside the yellow lane where i stoped.
police issue me a ticket for "fail to yeild at right way" cause i made left turn.
i fight for the ticket on court 3 months later, since nobody was showed up(even not the policeman), my ticket was gone.

but now the other party file a statement of claim to me and the company who owned the vehicle through a law office. the other party asking for $40000.00.

in the statement said that they file this statement to court already and require us to refile our statement of defence if we wants to defend this case within 20 days.

or judgement will be made against us if we give it up.
i have none experiences like this before. now totally have no idea what i should do for the next step.

i am almost immigration approved soon, i sent my finger prints to RCMP already. I am also afraid if this will be a bad record for RCMP to check with my finger prints. althrough someone told me that this will do no effects to my record.

so could anyone be kindly give me any advices?
