被指控shoplifting,怎么办啊?

事情的经过是这样的:昨天逛mall的时候买了很多东西,大包小包的我都拿不动了,就来到sears,把东西放到推车上,在sears里面逛.先是选了几双袜子,放在推车里面,又逛了一大圈,选了一顶帽子,就顺手在最近的casher那里check了.接着又逛了一大圈,看看也没么可买的.就推着车出了店门(我们这里的mall就只有sears的推车可以推出去).出了店门后,我收拾东西的时候发现那几双袜子在推车的前面的底部,就想也没想,直接把袜子放在我刚才买帽子的袋子里.这里有个特殊的情况,我于20多天前刚生完宝宝,本来是应该在家里做月子的,但是实在是憋不住了,就把宝宝叫给婆婆带,自己一个人开车出来了(老公不知道).所以我当时体力已经不行了,头很晕,关键是我的奶很涨,需要立即回家喂奶.所以放袜子的时候我心里一门心思想着回家喂奶,没有意识到袜子还没付钱.总之后来就是一场恶梦了.我被带到jial,过了几个小时,又被老公花了$500保了出来,下个月还要去法庭.我该怎么办啊?我会面临什么样的处罚啊?求求各位帮帮我,给我提供点意见.
