urgent advice needed

My hu*****and received one traffic ticket in San Antonio for two violations, 1 for the failed to read the signal, 2 failed to signal other drivers. he took the defensive driving class and sent back all the required document back to San ANtonio by certified mail. We thought the case was finished. But Last Saturday he received a letter from SAn ANtonio said that he has to appear to the court in person because he failed to respond to this issue. But he did. My question here is: he had two violations in one ticket which is similar violations. Does he take the defensive driving class dismiss one violation only, or the class could dismiss both the violations? thank you very much
