Social Security retirement benefits 是monthly benenfits; 没有lump sum payment除非人去世后可拿150美元安葬费。

您父母可以居住国外，照样拿每月的retiremnt benefits. 但您的父母不能住在国外拿SSI (supplemental security income)，因为SSI是联邦政府的welfare payment; your parents would become inelegible if they live overseas.
