I'm in Dallas, TX. I always thought it's OK to turn right on a red light as long as there's no traffic. Today I received a ticket for doing so. The cop said you have to stop at a red light no matter which direction to go. I know there're certain intersections where you can't turn right on red but I don't think there's a sign at this one because I go this way every day. The fine is $190 according to Richardson Municipal court. I could apply to take the safety class: $30 + $103 court process fee since I'm a reasonaly good driver - my last ticket was 3-4 years ago.
I'd like to know the possible outcome of going to court with a "not guilty" plea. Please provide any advice. Personal experience in court is especially appreciated.
Thanks!
