I think your hu*****and may be right.

When your hu*****and pay the down payment (assume with his money). He should own the all house that time. Now the house wroth more. Your hu*****and should pay half of the whole house value if you still agree responsible for the half of mortgage. It looks not true.

So he should pay half of the equity increase include the market value increase and equity increase due to principal payyment.
