The law is on your side; find a lawyer to represent you when necessary. If you have income, you are your child's lawful gardian, not your mother-in-law. She has no rights in this. When you talk to the social worker, explain to her / him what the matter is, ask her/him how to help you out in getting your in-law off of hand from your child. If the social worker intends to take the child away, which I don't think they have any base unless what you described is not true, then you should seek help from lawyer in this custody fight.
